At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 25, Deputy Gulya Kozhokulova expressed her concern regarding the work of Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev, urging him to reform his activities.

She noted that the mayor has an impressive team, including five deputies and four akims, yet the number of complaints from residents of the capital continues to grow.

Kozhokulova emphasized that the complaints pertain to the inadequate operation of public transport, which does not adhere to schedules and is in poor condition. Residents also express dissatisfaction regarding the preservation of cultural heritage and chaotic construction, pointing to the recent scandalous events near the Central Department Store, of which the mayor, according to her, was unaware, even though city dwellers actively discussed it on social media. “Why do we allow such cases? Control over construction and the lack of social facilities are very serious problems. The courtyards of the capital are in a deplorable state, the asphalt is broken, and akims avoid meetings with residents, relying on house committees and neighborhood leaders. Establishing contact with city residents is necessary. If the mayor's office does not change its work, it will lead to serious consequences,” Kozhokulova concluded.
