In the first reading, the deputies approved the draft law concerning the ratification of the protocol that amends the agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan on border crossing points. This document was signed on August 22, 2025, in Bishkek and is the result of the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Kyrgyzstan.

The purpose of preparing the law is to carry out the necessary domestic procedures for the protocol to come into force. The proposed changes concern the names and status of the border crossing points on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border. For example, the border crossing point "Kamishanovka-automobile" will be renamed to "Tomonku-Chui - automobile" and will become international with a round-the-clock operating mode.

There are also plans to change the status of the border crossing point "Kichi-Kapka - automobile," which will also become international and will operate 24 hours a day.

The adoption of this decision is aimed at creating more comfortable conditions for citizens and vehicles crossing the border between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. This is expected to contribute to an increase in cargo and passenger flow, attract foreign tourists, and improve infrastructure in the region.
