The General Prosecutor's Office noted that the review of cases is possible only in accordance with the law.
During the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputies are discussing the draft law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic," which proposes changes to the Criminal, Criminal Procedure, and Criminal Executive Codes of the country.
During the discussion, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva asked the Deputy General Prosecutor: "In light of current events, can we expect a political thaw? Will decisions deemed unjust be reviewed?"
In response, Deputy General Prosecutor Umutkan Konkubaeva stated that any changes must occur strictly within the framework of the law.
She clarified: "Regarding the review, if appeals are received or new circumstances are identified during prosecutorial oversight, the materials may be reviewed. However, the legislation does not allow for the review of cases without legal grounds."
Konkubaeva also added that to review cases, an application must be submitted to the General Prosecutor's Office, after which an inspection will be conducted in accordance with established procedures.
