A group of 75 citizens, mostly elders, has appealed to the parliament requesting presidential elections to be held this year. This was reported by Talant Mamytov, who is the leader of the "Yntymak-Mekenchil" deputy group, during a conversation with journalists.

According to Mamytov, the appeal was submitted to the relevant committee, where it was supposed to be reviewed. However, he stated that the final outcome remains unknown. He noted that after its submission, the speaker of the parliament and the committee chair sent a document with a resolution on the need for it to be studied in accordance with the law. A response was provided to the interested parties after the decision of the Constitutional Court, according to which action was required.

The deputy also pointed out that the election dates cannot be determined by the parliament, as the only body authorized to interpret constitutional norms is the Constitutional Court.

The appeal was intended to be reviewed by the committee dealing with constitutional laws, state structure, local self-government, and the regulations of the Jogorku Kenesh.
