During the meeting of the Budget, Economic, and Fiscal Policy Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, amendments to the constitutional law "On the Audit Chamber" were approved in two readings.

According to the adopted document, the number of auditors will be reduced from nine to three in accordance with the presidential decree aimed at optimizing and debureaucratizing state governance.

Under the new rules, one auditor will be appointed by the parliament upon the president's proposal, while two will be appointed on their own initiative. The term of office will be five years, with the possibility of reappointment for no more than two consecutive terms.

The necessity for these changes is due to a shortage of inspectors. With the current staff of 98 people, it is insufficient for the effective operation of nine auditors, which leads to delays in inspections in agencies of up to six months. It is expected that the optimization of staff will significantly accelerate the inspection process in government bodies, providing 30-40 inspectors per auditor.

According to preliminary estimates, the reduction in the number of auditors will save about 30 million soms from the budget.
