During the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Finance, Budget, Entrepreneurship, and Competition Development, parliamentarians reviewed amendments to the Constitutional Law "On the Accounts Chamber of the Kyrgyz Republic," proposed by the country's president.

According to the Chairman of the Accounts Chamber, Almazbek Akmatov, a key point in the draft law is the reduction of the number of auditors from nine to three.

This decision, as Akmatov explained, is due to the president's decree aimed at optimizing and reducing bureaucracy.

"Currently, we have 98 inspectors working, and this is not enough for the full operation of auditors. Sometimes an audit in one agency can take up to six months due to a lack of personnel. We concluded that it is better for one auditor to manage the process with 30-40 inspectors, which will allow for quicker inspections in government agencies," he noted.

With the implementation of the proposed changes, he stated, the budgetary effect will amount to 30 million soms.

The draft law stipulates that the Jogorku Kenesh will select one auditor upon the president's proposal and two on its own initiative. The term of office for auditors of the Accounts Chamber is five years, and the same person cannot hold this position for more than two consecutive terms.
