Dastan Bekeshev, a member of parliament, has initiated a new bill concerning the rules for the departure of minor children from Kyrgyzstan. He announced this on his Telegram channel.

Currently, for one parent to take a child abroad, the notarized consent of the other parent is required. However, Bekeshev proposes to eliminate this mandatory requirement.

“In my bill, I have provided that a parent wishing to control this process can independently set a travel ban on the child through the 'Tunduk' application. If necessary, this ban can be challenged in court. I also propose that the court should be able to consider the case for lifting the ban within 10 days, rather than a month as is currently the case. These rules will not apply to citizens of other countries to prevent situations where they could illegally take children abroad and disappear with them. In the past, there have been similar incidents, such as when a Pakistani national took children who were citizens of Kyrgyzstan, and their mother had to fight for their return,” the deputy noted.

The bill will be submitted for public discussion.
