During the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Almaz Imangaziev reported that the People's Republic of China (PRC) is urging Kyrgyzstan to prioritize the introduction of a visa-free regime for its citizens. This information was in response to a question from Deputy Jumabek Salymbekov, who noted that visa-free conditions are already in place for citizens of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

Imangaziev clarified that currently, Chinese citizens can visit Kyrgyzstan only with a visa. He noted that the visa-free regime was introduced as part of a pilot project concerning citizens of Hong Kong and Macau. Negotiations regarding visa-free entry for Kyrgyz citizens into the PRC are ongoing. The PRC insists that Kyrgyzstan must first provide a visa-free regime for Chinese citizens, after which they would be ready to take a similar step.

“However, we insist that the conditions for both countries be equal, and the visa-free regime should come into effect simultaneously,” the deputy minister added.

Also, in response to a question about negotiations with the United States regarding the resumption of long-term visa issuance for Kyrgyz citizens, Imangaziev confirmed that such discussions are taking place, but achieving results will take time.
