At a joint meeting of two deputy groups, Gulnara Akimbaeva proposed to simplify the process of granting disability status to children.

According to her information, there are over 37,000 children with disabilities in the country, of which 3,000 have mental disorders.

“The number of such children is increasing every year. According to some estimates, today in every 20th family there is a child with a disability, and this number may rise to one in five families in the future,” she emphasized.

Akimbaeva pointed out the difficulties faced by mothers of children with disabilities, especially those suffering from mental disorders. They are forced to repeatedly apply to various institutions—from the Republican Center for Mental Illness to Family Medicine Centers—undergoing numerous examinations by narrow specialists. “This creates additional challenges in their lives, as it is already difficult, and we complicate the process of obtaining disability status even further. Meanwhile, the allowance is only 8,000 soms,” the deputy added.

She urged the Ministry of Health to utilize digitalization opportunities to simplify this process in the country.
