According to the investigation, employees of the Naryn city education department demanded from each director an amount ranging from 4000 to 5000 soms. This money was allegedly intended for an inspector from the Accounts Chamber, who uncovered financial violations.
During a search, 68,000 soms were seized from the suspects, and a list of 17 educational institutions was compiled with notes on the transfer of funds.
The head of the Naryn city education department, T.U.S., was detained on charges of extortion under Article 343, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic ("Demanding a bribe by an official for performing or not performing actions in the interests of the giver, violating their legal rights"). He is currently in a temporary detention facility.
