As a result of anti-corruption efforts in law enforcement agencies, a case of extortion was uncovered involving the deputy prosecutor of one of the districts in the Talas region, known as S.K.O. According to information from the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), this official, violating the law and discrediting his profession, used his official position to obtain money from convicted individuals who were on probation and under fines. He repeatedly demanded $2,000 from them, threatening to appeal their sentences and initiate actual prison terms.
These actions by S.K.O. caused significant damage to the state's efforts to combat corruption, undermining public trust in the authorities.
On February 1 of this year, as a result of operational actions by the GKNB of the Kyrgyz Republic with the participation of a representative of the General Prosecutor's Office, S.K.O. was caught red-handed while receiving part of the extorted amount of 140,000 soms.
The detainee is currently in the temporary detention facility of the GKNB of the Kyrgyz Republic, and an investigation is underway to identify other possible offenses and the involvement of other officials.
