Several high-profile representatives of the Kyrgyz government are currently in Saudi Arabia performing Umrah — a minor pilgrimage. Among the pilgrims are the Chairman of the State Tax Service Almambet Shykmamatov, the Chief of Staff of the President Kanibek Tumanbaev, as well as the head of the Information Policy Service of the President's Administration Daiyrbek Orunbekov and other officials.
The news of their visit to the holy city became known through social media posts. The participants of the pilgrimage themselves confirmed their presence by sharing photos and videos on their accounts.
To date, a video has also appeared on social media featuring the head of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev in Mecca. The video also includes the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Saudi Arabia Ulukbek Maripov, as well as Kanibek Tumanbaev and other officials.
