The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is actively considering the option of imposing a naval blockade on Cuba in order to stop oil supplies to the island. This is reported by Meduza.

As of now, a final decision has not yet been made, as there are both supporters and opponents of this measure within the administration.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio supports the blockade, however, some officials express concerns that a complete halt to oil supplies could provoke a humanitarian crisis in Cuba. Even now, the cessation of supplies from Venezuela is negatively affecting the country's economy.

According to information from Politico, the naval blockade is being considered as one of the methods of pressure on the Cuban communist government. Earlier, Donald Trump emphasized that Havana should no longer receive oil and financial assistance from Caracas, urging the Cuban authorities to negotiate with Washington.
