At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, where amendments to the Law "On the Exchange of Credit Information" were discussed, some deputies raised the issue of high interest rates on loans offered by commercial banks in Kyrgyzstan.

Deputy Kubanychbek Samakov pointed out that the state attracts funding from international financial organizations at low interest rates, but commercial banks provide these funds to citizens at significantly higher rates.

“We observe that agreements may stipulate a rate of 1 percent, offering preferential loans. But when it comes to citizens, the rates rise to 20 percent. What is happening and what measures is the government taking to reduce this gap?” he asked.

Parliamentarian Yrysbek Atazhanov also noted that in some commercial banks, loans are available at 25-30 percent. He inquired whether it is possible for the National Bank to impose limits on these rates.

In response, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Medet Tairov stated that this issue is currently being discussed in cooperation with the government.
