On February 6 in Bishkek, during the Friday prayer, police officers conducted a preventive operation called "Beggar," as reported by the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Pervomaisky District.

According to the press secretary of the Internal Affairs Department, Almas Bekboeva, during the raid on Abai Street, a 77-year-old woman was found begging in a wheelchair. Next to her was a QR code containing bank details. The officers tried to determine whether the elderly woman was on the street of her own accord and to whom the specified details belonged. In response to their questions, the woman stated that she could hear poorly and then added that she needed money for an operation.

The police checked the QR code and found that it was registered to her daughter. They then contacted her by phone and invited her to the scene. When asked why, in such cold weather, her daughter sent her mother to beg, she replied that this was only the first day they had decided to take such a step.

As a result, the elderly woman and her daughter were taken to the police station, where they explained that they needed money for urgent needs.

A protocol was drawn up against the elderly woman's daughter under Article 190 ("Violation of traffic rules by a pedestrian, cyclist, person driving horse-drawn transport, or animal herder") of the Code of Offenses of the Kyrgyz Republic. Similar protocols were also issued against other offenders.

"The police officers explained to the citizens the negative consequences of begging and the requirements of the law," emphasized Bekboeva.
