The crown of Empress Eugenie was severely bent. The Louvre showcased it for the first time after the theft
The Louvre has showcased the crown of Empress Eugenie for the first time, following unfortunate events during the robbery on October 19. According to DW, the thieves, in their haste to escape, left the crown on the street.

According to museum information, the damaged artifact is being displayed to the public for the first time.

The crown of Napoleon III's wife was found to be significantly bent, with one of the eight golden eagles missing, as well as ten diamonds out of 1354. However, all 56 emeralds remain intact.

Due to the damages, the Louvre plans to restore the crown and will announce a competition for restorers. The advisory committee will include representatives from renowned jewelry houses such as Cartier, Mellerio, Chaumet, Boucheron, and Van Cleef & Arpels.
