In Italy, clashes with the police occurred during protests against the Olympics, as reported by AFP.

On the eve, a demonstration took place in Milan, gathering several thousand participants who protested against the environmental, social, and economic consequences of the upcoming Winter Olympics. During the action, about 100 people separated from the main group and began a conflict with law enforcement.

Protesters threw stones at the police, used smoke bombs, and set off fireworks. In response, law enforcement used tear gas, water cannons, and batons. As a result of the clashes, six people were detained.

The planned XXV Winter Olympics will take place from February 6 to 22, 2026, and the Winter Paralympics will be held from March 6 to 15. A total of 2,871 athletes from 93 countries will participate in the Olympics, competing for 116 sets of medals in 16 disciplines.
