A criminal case has been initiated regarding negligence and the provision of services that do not meet safety standards, which led to the deaths of several people. The Consulate General of China in Irkutsk has been notified of the incident.
The governor of the region, Igor Kobzev, emphasized that the ice crossing to Olkhon is currently closed and access to the ice is strictly prohibited due to danger.
An investigative operational group, which includes investigators, police officers, and emergency services staff, is working at the scene of the tragedy. Search operations are underway, circumstances of the incident are being established, and witnesses and representatives of the authorities responsible for safety on water bodies are being interviewed.
