The Republican Blood Center of the Kyrgyz Republic has thwarted a corruption scheme. This was reported by the State Commission for Combating Corruption (GKNB).
The investigation established that K.B.B., the former director of the RBC (born in 1972, held the position from 2012 to August 2025), organized a criminal conspiracy in 2020 with the head of the private company LLC "M". Together, they embezzled significant budget funds by installing expensive medical equipment at the Center, including the Cobas S201 PCR laboratory and the ARCHITECT Plus and ABBOTT laboratory.
After the equipment was installed, the former director signed a contract with LLC "M" for the supply of reagents for the laboratories. Over five years, the company supplied reagents at inflated prices, and part of the funds received was returned to K.B.B. as a "kickback".
As a result of the audit of the financial activities of the RBC for the period from 2020 to 2025, the investigation recorded damage to the state in the amount of 36 million soms due to the actions of K.B.B. and LLC "M".
On March 5, 2026, in connection with this case, the former director of the RBC was placed in custody in the GKNB pre-trial detention center. A legal assessment will also be conducted regarding the head of LLC "M" during the investigation.
It should be noted that as part of this criminal case, operational and investigative activities are ongoing to identify other officials involved in the corruption scheme.
