
In one of the latest incidents, they stole a phone and 200,000 soms from a car
In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, serial car thieves have been detained, who may be involved in more than ten thefts. This was reported by the press service of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate (GUVD).
According to the information, a citizen named M.T. contacted the First May District Internal Affairs Department. He reported that on March 14, 2026, around 1:00 PM, when he entered a store in the residential complex "Kölmö," unidentified individuals broke into his unlocked car, a "Honda Accord," and stole a "Samsung A17" mobile phone and 200,000 soms. After that, they fled in a "Hyundai Sonata."
A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During operational activities conducted by the GUVD's Criminal Investigation Department, the suspects were detained. All of them had previous legal issues and were registered as pickpockets: B.K., born in 2000, N.R., born in 1996, and E.A., born in 1991. The detainees have been placed in the temporary detention facility of the GUVD.
Additionally, N.S. was identified and detained for buying stolen mobile phones in one of the shopping centers. He had 9 phones of various models in his possession, which are believed to have been obtained illegally.
The investigation revealed that the criminals moved around the city in a rented car and selected their victims by paying attention to unlocked vehicles to commit thefts.
