The military prosecutor's office has taken on the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a serviceman of the State Penitentiary Service.
According to information provided by the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Jalal-Abad region, on January 5, 2026, a report was received at the duty station of the Bazar-Korgon District Internal Affairs Department stating that serviceman A.A., born in 2007, while on guard duty, shot himself and died.
The investigative service of the Bazar-Korgon District Internal Affairs Department registered the incident in an electronic log, after which a preliminary investigation began. As part of the investigation, the site where the incident occurred was examined. As material evidence, a firearm in a ready-to-fire condition and two spent cartridges were seized. A forensic medical examination was also planned.
According to the regional police, on January 6, 2026, the collected materials were transferred to the Military Prosecutor's Office.

On January 5, the press service of the State Penitentiary Service reported that serviceman A.A.N., born in 2007 and serving in the 5th Guard Battalion of the Department of Protection and Escort of the State Penitentiary Service, died while fulfilling his duties at correctional facility No. 10, located in the village of Bai-Munduz in the Bazar-Korgon district of the Jalal-Abad region.
The event occurred on January 5 at approximately 15:25 at the guard post, and according to preliminary data, the serviceman shot himself for unknown reasons, resulting in his death at the scene.
The Deputy Chairman of the State Penitentiary Service, Colonel Kurmanbek Sokeev, as well as other leaders of relevant services, arrived at the scene to organize operational investigative actions.
Representatives of the Bazar-Korgon District Internal Affairs Department and the military prosecutor's office of the Jalal-Abad garrison are also participating in the investigation. Currently, the collection of necessary materials for the investigation is ongoing.
According to preliminary information, the deceased serviceman was from the village of Kozhomkul (formerly Voenno-Antonovka), located in the Sokuluk district of the Chui region.

This correctional colony was opened in 2024. Turmush reported on its official opening. More than 2 billion 283 million soms were allocated from the republican budget for the construction of correctional facility No. 10 outside the city of Jalal-Abad.
To enable the convicted individuals to work, 12 production sites have been established in the colony. The workshops in the correctional facility belong to the state enterprise "Kelechek," which operates under the Penitentiary Service.
The new facility is located on an area of 13 hectares and accommodates 1,250 people, of which 1,000 places are intended for general regime convicts, and 250 for strict regime. Thirteen hectares of land were allocated for the construction of the correctional facility, which is located 25 km from the city of Jalal-Abad. A military town for the 5th battalion of the Protection and Escort Service has also been built.
The new battalion is located 6 km from the village of Bai-Munduz and 38 km from the city of Jalal-Abad. Previously, the Penitentiary Service was part of the Ministry of Justice, but it has now become an independent agency and operates as the State Penitentiary Service under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
