According to the agency, the woman attempted to run over the officers, using her vehicle as a "weapon," which led to the shooting. ICE characterized the incident as an "act of domestic terrorism," claiming that the officer's actions were necessary for self-defense. However, witnesses described the incident as murder and demanded that ICE officers leave the state.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called the official version of events "nonsense," adding that what happened is an example of "reckless use of force" by the police.
Previously, about two thousand ICE officers were deployed to Minneapolis, according to CBS. As a result of the operation, more than 150 people were arrested on charges related to fraud in government programs. In recent weeks, ICE's activity in this region has increased.
It should be noted that Donald Trump has been actively pursuing a policy of mass deportation of illegal migrants since the beginning of his second term.
