In the Sokuluk district, a criminal investigation has been initiated regarding torture after an elderly woman reported to the police about systematic violence from her son. This was reported by the press service of the Main Internal Affairs Department of the Chui region.
According to law enforcement agencies, the woman, born in 1958, filed a complaint on January 3, 2026, stating that her son, under the influence of alcohol, regularly subjected her to physical and psychological violence. An examination confirmed the presence of minor bodily harm, which led to a temporary disorder. In this regard, a criminal case was initiated under Article 138 (Torture) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The son, who was born in 1978, was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.
