The main problem is the lack of necessary infrastructure that meets the standards of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and FIFA.
It is unclear whether the initiative to withdraw the application will come from the countries themselves or if a decision on the winner will be made during the election of another candidate.
Other contenders for hosting the 2031 Asian Cup include Australia, India, Indonesia, Kuwait, and South Korea.
