AFC U-23 Cup: Uzbekistan Advances to Playoffs, Iran and Qatar Fail to Score Any Goals

The group stage of the U-23 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia has concluded, and three more teams have been determined to continue their participation in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

On January 13, the final matches in groups B and C took place.

The Uzbekistan national team won against the Korean team with a score of 2:0, securing first place in their group and ensuring their advancement to the playoffs. Kyrgyzstan, which previously faced Uzbekistan in the qualifying tournament in Bishkek, ended that match in a draw and also advanced to the final round in first place.

South Korea also managed to reach the quarterfinals thanks to an unexpected defeat of Iran by Lebanon with a score of 0:1. The Iranian team did not score any goals in this tournament and finished in last place in their group.

Kyrgyzstan also faced the Iranians in the tournament held in Manas, winning 2:1 by scoring two goals in the final minutes of the game.

The UAE national team advanced to the playoffs in second place in group C and will now meet the Vietnam team. Japan took first place in this group, winning all three of their matches. Meanwhile, Qatar finished the tournament in last place, failing to score any goals and losing all three matches.

The group stage will conclude on January 14 with matches in group D, which will determine two more participants in the playoffs.
