The situation surrounding the possible annexation of Greenland by the USA, initiated by Donald Trump, is sparking serious debates in Europe about boycotting the upcoming World Cup, reports the publication "Baza" here.

Some football officials from Germany and France have already expressed the opinion that they should withdraw from the tournament. Similar initiatives are also being discussed in the British Parliament, and the Economist reports that the issue is being raised in the European Parliament in Brussels.

Moreover, calls for a boycott were heard earlier this year following events related to the actions of the American military against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. At that time, it was suggested to exclude the USA from the list of tournament host countries and to move the matches to Canada and Mexico.

Fans are also actively protesting: in one night, they returned about 17,000 tickets for matches in the USA, demonstrating their dissatisfaction.
