Trump threatened Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodriguez that she could pay 'an even higher price than Maduro'

According to the President of the United States, if Delcy Rodriguez does not change her behavior, she may "pay a very high price," possibly even higher than Nicolás Maduro. Trump made this statement during a phone interview with The Atlantic.

The publication notes that Trump's warning was quite explicit, emphasizing that he does not intend to tolerate "open defiance" of cooperation with Rodriguez.

In addition to this, the U.S. President stated the need for control over Greenland for defensive purposes.

In an interview with The New York Post, Trump also mentioned that military presence in Venezuela would not be necessary if the interim president "follows our instructions."

On January 5, Delcy Rodriguez addressed Trump, stating that Venezuelans "deserve peace, not war," as reported by Correo del Orinoco.

“This has always been the position of our president Nicolás Maduro, and now it is the position of all Venezuelans. I believe in this Venezuela, and for me, it is a dream for it to become a great power where all good Venezuelans can unite,” she emphasized.

Rodriguez noted that Caracas aims to "build balanced and respectful relations" with the United States and neighboring countries.

“We invite the U.S. government to work together on a cooperation program focused on common development, within the framework of international law and to strengthen durable coexistence,” she added.

She also emphasized that Venezuela strives for peace and peaceful coexistence. “Our country wants to live in a world free from external threats, in an atmosphere of respect and international cooperation. We are convinced that global peace begins with ensuring internal peace in every country,” Rodriguez noted.

“Venezuela has the right to peace, development, sovereignty, and a future,” she concluded her speech.
