In a recent interview with The Atlantic, Donald Trump reiterated the necessity of Greenland for the United States. He emphasized that this island holds significant strategic importance, being "surrounded by Russian and Chinese ships." Meanwhile, the White House published a photograph of Trump posing with members of the squad that kidnapped Nicolás Maduro. "Greenland is really necessary for us; it is critically important for our defense," the publication quotes Trump. He also noted that Venezuela may not be the only country where the U.S. could intervene.
In his statement, Trump did not shy away from mentioning the new Venezuelan leader, Delcy Rodríguez, threatening her: "If she does not act properly, she will have to pay a high price, possibly even higher than Maduro."
Denmark, for its part, expressed protest against Trump's threats regarding Greenland. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that "the U.S. has no right to annex any territories of the kingdom."
