In the capital of Kazakhstan, at the "Astana Arena" stadium, three foreign fans were detained on January 20 during the Champions League match between "Kairat" and "Brugge." This information was provided by the Astana police department, reports Tengrinews.kz.
The reason for the law enforcement intervention was the provocative actions of fans in the stands. After the game, videos appeared on social media showing "Brugge" fans dressed in revealing swimsuits reminiscent of Borat's costume from the popular film by Sacha Baron Cohen. This act was likely intended to provoke or mock local supporters.
The police clarified that the detainees were taken to the station for further investigation. An administrative case has been opened against them for appearing in a public place in a state of alcohol intoxication and petty hooliganism.
"The materials of the case have been sent to court for a decision. Until it is reviewed, the offenders are in a temporary detention room," the police department added.
It is worth noting that the match "Kairat" - "Brugge" ended with a score of 4:1 in favor of the Belgian team. Nevertheless, the incident in the stands became the main topic of discussion on social media, attracting the attention of the general public.
