The population of Uzbekistan has been increasing for the third consecutive year; however, the growth rate continues to decline — in 2024, the increase was 2.2%, while last year it was 2%.
Despite this, Uzbekistan remains the most populous country in Central Asia and demonstrates high population growth rates.
The urban population is also growing, and as of now, its share is 50.9%, while the rural population has decreased to 49.1%.
In 2025, 1.2 thousand people arrived in Uzbekistan for permanent residence, while 10.1 thousand people left the country.
As of January 1, 2026, the population of the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, reached 3,178.1 thousand people, confirming the city's status as the largest in Central Asia.
