
According to MiddleAsianNews, Mongolia and the United States have signed an agreement to provide a grant that will support the launch of direct flights between the two countries.
The signing ceremony took place on February 5, 2026, during which the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) provided a grant to Mongolia to promote the technical assistance phase related to the opening of direct flights.
Important signatures on the agreement were made by the Deputy Minister of Roads and Transportation of Mongolia Ganbold Gochoo and the Acting Administrator of USTDA Thomas Hardy, representing the American side. The event was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsereg Batmunkh and Ambassador Batbayar Olziidelger.

According to the terms of the agreement, the technical assistance project will include flight safety standards amounting to $2.6 million. The USTDA will allocate $2.2 million, and The Wicks Group Consulting will provide $390,000.
During the signing, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsereg emphasized that this agreement not only deepens aviation ties between the two countries but also has significant strategic importance for political and economic partnership, as well as for promoting trade, tourism, and interpersonal connections. She highlighted that cooperation in civil aviation is a practical manifestation of the strategic partnership with the "third neighbor" between Mongolia and the USA.
