In an interview with The Atlantic, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed the opinion that continuing military actions is preferable to signing an agreement that he considers bad.

The publication reports that some close to Zelensky are anxious about the possibility of missing the chance for a peaceful settlement, as the war could drag on for several years if a compromise is not reached in the coming months.

Zelensky noted that he does not wish to agree to terms that would be unacceptable for Ukraine. "We are not losing," he commented on the current events at the front and added that he is ready to continue the fight, despite the length of the conflict.

The Atlantic emphasizes that the Ukrainian president is not willing to accept "humiliating conditions" to end the conflict, even despite the desire to finish the war as soon as possible. One of his advisors noted that Zelensky can withstand external pressure and act contrary to common expectations.

Additionally, Zelensky mentioned that if Donald Trump wants to strengthen his image as a peacemaker, he should take advantage of the current situation to facilitate the end of the war.

Earlier in an interview with Bloomberg, the Ukrainian president stated that he agreed to the U.S. proposal for a new round of negotiations with Russia. He noted that the meeting could take place on February 17 or 18, and the main issue would be the discussion of territories.
