The operation of the Skytree TV tower in Tokyo has been suspended after an elevator accident

The incident occurred on February 22, when two of the four elevators in the tower unexpectedly stopped. One elevator was empty, while in the second, people were trapped at a height of about 30 meters. The rescue operation lasted about 5.5 hours, after which all those trapped were evacuated without any injuries.

Additionally, the situation affected other visitors: about 1,200 people on the observation deck at a height of 350 meters waited for about three hours until the elevators were restored.

In light of the incident, the company decided to close the tower on February 23 for a comprehensive technical inspection. Those who purchased tickets in advance are promised a refund.
