Nikol Pashinyan apologized to his civil wife after announcing their separation

Nikol Pashinyan stated: “I respect Anna's decision. For 30 years she has been with me in difficult times, being my stronghold and support. I cannot be sure that I was as reliable for her. Perhaps I added bitterness to her life, for which I sincerely apologize,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Anna Akopyan announced the end of their civil marriage on February 17. She did not specify the reasons for the breakup and did not provide additional details.

The couple began their relationship in the 1990s, having met while studying at Yerevan State University. They did not formalize their marriage and have four children.

Pashinyan previously explained that he did not formalize an official marriage with Akopyan to "protect the family." In the 90s, as an opposition figure, he feared arrest and property confiscation, so he registered their jointly acquired apartment in Anna's name to ensure "the children had a place to live."
