As part of the temporary permit announced by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Washington allows the sale of only those volumes of oil that are already in transit. This decision does not imply new purchases or an increase in production, nor does it cancel further pressure measures on Iran and restrictions on its access to international financial resources.

According to American authorities, including these volumes in the market should help increase global energy supplies and ease the pressure on supply caused by events in the Strait of Hormuz. Previously, the main buyers of this oil were Chinese refiners, who purchased it at reduced prices, Reuters reports.

Washington emphasizes that this measure is viewed as a temporary step to curb rising oil prices amid the ongoing conflict. This is already the third such easing introduced in recent weeks aimed at stabilizing the energy market.

The Iranian side, for its part, has denied the U.S. statement. According to Reuters, a representative of the Iranian Ministry of Oil stated that the country has no oil reserves "at sea or to supply international markets," and characterized the actions of the American side as an attempt to "instill hope in buyers."
