During his visit, Rahmon will hold high-level talks with Mirziyoyev and will also participate in the first meeting of the Supreme Intergovernmental Council, which will be chaired by the presidents of the two countries.
One of the main areas of discussion will be the strengthening of friendly relations and good neighborliness between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, as well as the development of strategic partnership and alliance.
The discussions will cover a range of key issues, including the expansion of political dialogue, trade-economic and interregional cooperation, as well as the development of industrial cooperation and transport connectivity. Issues of water-energy security and cultural-humanitarian exchanges will also be addressed.
At the conclusion of the visit, the launch of new joint projects and the signing of a number of bilateral agreements aimed at further developing cooperation between the two states are planned.
Earlier, Emomali Rahmon visited Uzbekistan to participate in the seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, which took place on November 15-16, 2025. Regular meetings between the heads of state have occurred within the framework of various events and summits.
The last official visit of Rahmon to Tashkent took place on March 9-10, 2018, and was the first visit of a Tajik president to Uzbekistan in 17 years.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, for his part, made a state visit to Tajikistan on April 18-19, 2024.
