Arlindo de Souza, known by the name "Popeye," passed away on January 13 after being hospitalized on Catholic Christmas due to kidney failure.
According to his niece, his health deteriorated: "His lungs began to fill with fluid. He didn't make it to dialysis because his heart stopped. Although the death certificate has not yet been issued, it is likely that the cause was multiple organ failure," she said.
It is known that Arlindo's enormous biceps were the result of injections he administered himself, rather than training. Doctors had repeatedly warned him about the possible consequences, such as abscesses that could lead to amputation.
Ten years ago, he shared with British media the tragic story of his friend Paulinho, who also engaged in dangerous injections and died. After this loss, Arlindo claimed he stopped using synthol; however, it seems he was unable to do so.

It is also worth noting that Arlindo was known by other names, such as Alindo Anomaly (which translates to Arlindo-animal) and Alindo Montanha (which means Arlindo-mountain).
