In 2025, 128 journalists were killed worldwide

According to a report by the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), 128 media representatives tragically lost their lives in 2025. Among them were ten women. It is noteworthy that nine of all the deaths occurred due to accidents. In 2024, the number of journalists killed was reported to be 122, according to IFJ.
The report also highlights a concerning trend related to drone attacks on journalists and their vehicles.

According to the organization, among the victims were Ukrainian journalists Elena Khamrova, Yevgeny Karmazin, and Tatyana Kulik, as well as French colleague Anthony Lalikhan, who fell victim to deliberate drone attacks. Additionally, as stated in the press release, Russian journalist Ivan Zuyev was killed as a result of one such attack.
