As reported by GB News citing The Telegraph, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his team are negotiating with European allies about the possibility of deploying British troops in Greenland. This discussion has arisen from repeated statements by Trump, who expressed interest in the island as a potential territory for the USA.

According to the publication, military planners from the UK have already begun consultations with their French and German counterparts, initiating preliminary discussions. Although these plans are in the early stages, various options are being considered, including the deployment of ground forces, naval fleets, and air power to protect the region from potential threats from China and Russia.

A source in the UK government noted: "We support President Trump's position: it is necessary to deter Russia's growing aggression in the Arctic and strengthen Euro-Atlantic security."

According to The Telegraph, European countries hope that increasing their military presence in the Arctic will serve as a compelling argument for Trump to abandon the idea of annexing Greenland. This issue was already discussed at a recent NATO meeting in Brussels.

Negotiators have approached the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe with a request to assess the additional security needed for the Arctic region. A possible operation could range from a full troop deployment to temporary exercises, intelligence sharing, and the reallocation of defense spending.

Any such mission is likely to take place under NATO auspices, separate from the existing operations of the alliance in Poland and the Baltic states.

Additionally, it has become known that the European Union is considering imposing sanctions on American companies if Trump rejects NATO's proposals. Potential restrictions could affect tech giants such as Meta, Google, Microsoft, and X, as well as American banks and financial institutions.
