Juan Pedro Franco, who was registered in the Guinness World Records in 2017 as the heaviest man in the world, passed away at the age of 41 in Mexico. According to the Mexican publication El Universal, the cause of his death was a kidney infection that led to serious complications.

Franco's attending physician reported that the patient's condition deteriorated sharply in the last days of his life. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, they were unable to save him.
