A ferry sank in the Philippines with more than 350 passengers: 15 people died, dozens are missing

The ferry was traveling from Zamboanga to Jolo Island, carrying 332 passengers and 27 crew members on board.

The Coast Guard reported that the vessel likely experienced technical malfunctions. Coast Guard Commander Romel Dua told the Associated Press that the incident occurred shortly after midnight on January 26, approximately two kilometers from the settlement of Baluk-Baluk in Basilan province, where many of the survivors were taken.

The causes of the sinking remain unknown, and an investigation will be initiated.
