According to the National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring of Mongolia, about 90% of the country is covered with snow on Sunday, with a thickness reaching 45 cm.
In an official statement, the meteorological agency noted that at least nine out of twenty-one Mongolian aimags are facing critical winter conditions known as "dzud".
Additionally, meteorologists reported that 16 aimags are experiencing conditions approaching dzud.
The term "dzud" in Mongolia is used to describe harsh winters when a significant number of livestock die due to freezing or being buried in snow.
Mongolia is known for its harsh continental climate, characterized by long, frosty winters and short summers.
