In Mongolia, the number of criminal cases is expected to increase by almost 7% by 2025

According to MiddleAsianNews, data published on Sunday by the National Statistical Office (NSO) indicates that the number of criminal cases in Mongolia is expected to increase by nearly 7 percent by 2025.

According to the NSO, from January to December 2025, 47,480 criminal cases were registered, which is an increase of 6.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

The rise in crime in the country is associated with an increase in cases related to road safety and transportation activities, which have risen by 43.2 percent, as well as property crimes by 1.6 percent and crimes against life and health by 5 percent, as noted in the report.

In the first eight months of 2025, about 23,000 violations related to driving under the influence of alcohol were registered, and 2,097 crimes committed under the influence of alcohol were recorded, marking an increase compared to previous periods. Of this number, 2,000 cases involved drivers without licenses, while 19,000 drivers had licenses but were operating vehicles while intoxicated.

According to the NSO, in 2025, 43,800 people became victims of various crimes, among whom nearly 18 percent were women and children.
