Funding for the treatment of orphan diseases is increasing, - Ministry of Health

At a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on labor, health, women's affairs, and social issues, the First Deputy Minister of Health Aibek Matkerimov stated that funding for the treatment of orphan diseases will increase to 264.2 million soms in 2025.

As Matkerimov noted, this is an increase of 164.2 million soms compared to 2024. These funds are allocated from the High Technology Fund.

As part of the new infrastructure at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, the construction of the second building of which is planned to be completed in 2026, beds will be created for the diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases.

Patients with orphan diseases are currently receiving treatment in department No. 24 of the NCMD. Such diseases include spinal muscular atrophy, cystic fibrosis, hemophilia, phenylketonuria, Gaucher's disease, and other rare hereditary metabolic disorders, as well as chronic diseases that occur in a small group of people.
