At the meeting of the Committee on Agricultural Policy, Water Resources, Subsoil Use, Ecology, and Environmental Protection, which took place on February 9, 2026, Deputy Nilufar Alimjanova raised the issue of the impact of the introduced limits on the supply of irrigation water on farmers.

Bakyt Torobaev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, responded to this question, confirming that irrigation water will now be provided strictly in accordance with the established limits.

Alimjanova noted that farmers have many questions regarding the newly introduced tariff for irrigation water.

Torobaev explained that before the introduction of tariffs and the accounting of irrigation water, the Water Resources Service collected only about 100 million soms annually, whereas now this amount has increased to 300 million soms.

According to him, the funds obtained are directed towards cleaning canals, supporting irrigation infrastructure, and increasing the salaries of employees to 20,000 soms per month.

The deputy expressed farmers' concerns that the limits and tariffs could restrict access to water in arid areas and increase irrigation costs.

This issue was raised in the context of discussing the draft resolution of the Jogorku Kenesh "On the progress of preparations for the spring field and agricultural works in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2026."
