The jewelry sector of Kyrgyzstan awaits revision against the backdrop of new government requirements

Stricter requirements for jewelers in Kyrgyzstan

The government of Kyrgyzstan has made changes to the regulations concerning the jewelry sector. Resolution No. 59, published on February 4, introduces stricter requirements for participants in this market.

On one hand, the new rules promote greater transparency: jewelry companies are now required to publish lists of their employees and confirm the presence of assets for registration.

On the other hand, restrictions and control over the import and export of unprocessed diamonds have been increased. Jewelry companies must now submit their annual plans.

Additionally, the reform has affected retail trade: jewelry items can no longer be sold based on a patent in shopping centers and markets, excluding them from this list.

For consumers, a significant change has been the increase in the threshold for mandatory client identification during transactions with precious metals — from 10,000 to 50,000 soms.

If a jewelry company does not engage in actual activity or uses its resources for non-target purposes, it will be removed from the registry.

The government is confident that these measures will help identify unscrupulous intermediaries without compromising convenience for retail customers.
