At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 11, Bakyt Torobaev, who holds the position of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Water Resources, stated that this year there will be no increase in irrigation water tariffs.

He emphasized that previously there was a lack of discipline in the water resources sector: monitoring was not conducted, and accounting was not maintained.

According to the minister, 50% of the established tariffs are directed towards channel clearing, equipment renewal, and pump installation. The remaining 50% goes to the salaries of murabs and workers at pumping stations. Previously, their salary was 5,000 soms, but with the support of farmers, it has been increased to 12,000 and 18,000 soms. "Last year we collected 100 million soms, and this year we plan to collect 300 million soms. We take nothing for ourselves; this is the money of your voters. Next year, we expect to collect 800 million soms," he added.

The minister also noted that the country has low tariffs, but there are serious problems that need to be addressed.
