Strict phytosanitary control of imported seedlings introduced in Osh

Measures have been taken by the Osh Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic to enhance control over the import of planting material. The press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reports that the verification process now includes two stages aimed at preventing the entry of pests into the country’s agriculture.

The initial stage is carried out at the "Dostuk" checkpoint located on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border. Inspectors thoroughly analyze phytosanitary certificates, permitting documents, and transport invoices.

At the second stage, which takes place at the "Mega Logistic" customs point, specialists conduct a re-inspection and sampling for in-depth testing at the Osh quarantine laboratory. Import permits for seedlings are issued only after receiving negative test results for harmful organisms. Additionally, all planting material is subject to mandatory disinfection.

Farmers and entrepreneurs wishing to import seedlings into the Osh region must provide a complete set of documents, including a special permit from the Department of Agricultural Crop Expertise, a phytosanitary certificate from the exporting country, an invoice, and transport documents.

The department emphasizes that strict adherence to these requirements is a crucial condition for protecting Kyrgyzstan's agriculture from quarantine threats and ensuring environmental safety in the country.
