According to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, in 2024, Kyrgyzstan imported over 13.3 million seedlings, while in 2025, the figure dropped to 6.86 million. This is significantly lower than the previous year's figures, indicating a reduction in the export of seedlings.

The Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine actively monitors the phytosanitary aspects of seedlings imported into the country. All imported seedlings are subject to mandatory quarantine and phytosanitary inspection.

The control process begins with document verification, including phytosanitary certificates and accompanying documents. Laboratory studies are then conducted to identify quarantine pests, and if necessary, measures for their destruction, such as fumigation, are implemented.

In 2024, over 8,000 laboratory tests were conducted, while in 2025, more than 3,000 were performed. The volume of fumigation carried out last year amounted to 156,000 cubic meters, which is significantly higher than the figures for 2024.

To import seedlings, a special document is required that confirms the right to import specific varieties and hybrids into the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Additionally, strict control over the use of pesticides and agrochemicals is enforced in the country. All chemical agents must be registered, and the import of unregistered products remains prohibited.

The main task of the department is to protect the republic from the importation and spread of quarantine harmful organisms.
