Mutual accumulated investments between the countries of the region rose by $400 million (+42%) in 2024-2025, reaching $1.3 billion.
Main trends for the period 2020-2025:
- Kazakhstan acts as the leading investor in the region, accounting for 72% ($930 million) of all outgoing investments.
- There are 21 projects, with Uzbekistan forming 28% ($370 million) of the total outgoing investments, increasing its assets more than fourfold.
- The main recipient countries for investments are Uzbekistan ($680 million) and Kyrgyzstan ($450 million), which together account for 87% of the total inflow of FDI from other Central Asian countries.
According to EDB estimates, the growth of intra-regional investments was driven by a number of key projects, such as the construction of residential complexes in Tashkent with the participation of Kazakh companies, Kazakhstan's investments in the banking sector of Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbek investments in a household appliance manufacturing plant in the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan.
